Why We Care For Our Kohala Community...

Our Officers and Board Directors, seating eight (8) positions, are concerned Hawaiian citizens of Hawaiian ancestry residing or own residential, agricultural or kuleana property in the Kohala District, moku 'o Hawai'i.  As Native Hawaiians we innately have a legal understanding of our "certain special rights" in the State of Hawaii which is above and beyond the rights of the general public.  "We Are Grateful"

We are always open to the concerns of our "rural town folk" and encourage those in our community to speak out and let their voices be heard for the greater good of all concerned.  At times we are able to rally on their behalf if it fits our purposes for which we are organized.  We pride ourselves with taking on a project in victory whether in a legal matter or activity benefiting a group or organization. We remind ourselves of the saying "... 'Aina (land) is likened to an Ali'i (chief) and we are its servants to 'aina".This includes not just aina alone in issues to be brought to attention for remedy, but also in caretaking the people who live on aina making sure we "Keep Kohala, Kohala".

With each passing generation, we realize the sensitivity in caring for the needs of our Hawaiian Citizens and those of Hawaiian Ancestry. We must be pono in our decision making process which is in direct relation to our purposes. With the perseverance of our staff and volunteers we will continue to protect, preserve and malama (care for) Our Kohala...'E Pule Kakou...
